Jessica Toussaint Now it is not heir policy, now hm are sidetracking. I've known people to work @ hand m years ago and they've said the same things that are coming to light now. Plus, I've seen it myself a yr ago when I was about to purchase a sweater with a hole in it (a tiny one btw) the sales associate told me to get another and she ...gave it to another to put somewhere to throw it away later. I questioned it, and they both said it was "store policy". Idt hm are aware of how much people are needy of clothing, escpeically this time of the year. smh h&m

As someone who used to work in retail this is common practice for clothing that is damaged or not selling. Companies waste so much money on unnessesary merchandise and the stores are pressured to
make it go away. It's so sad that in this day and age when so Many are without that this is acceptable....shame on h & m

Just because one store has a lazy, rude worker, doesn't mean the whole company is to blame. Seriously people this is ridiculous. THINK.
On another note, when will the website ship to the US? I've been waiting forever- its disappointing going to the store and not finding something you've seen advertised or finding someth...ing cute and then your size isn't there. PLEASE SET UP THE US WEBSITE!

Jeanette donate any "damaged" usable garments? what about garments that have been on clearance for too long, haven't sold, but aren't damaged? where do those go?

Some retailers donate unsold clothing to charity, or discount it by the palletful and sell it to thrift stores or closeout retailers. But the New York Times reports that the H&M at Herald Square in Manhattan ...

And, for those of you that feel that negative commentary about this incident is "self-righteous": please consider that major corporations should be aware of practice...s at EVERY location they operate. As someone already mentioned, if Upper Management was "completely unaware" of this practice (at such a prime location such as Herald Square?? Seems unlikely), then someone is either LYING, or their business is being completely mis-managed: What else is taking place in H &M stores that you are unaware of ?????? Food for thought....

Miranda Look at all the self-righteous people on here. Has anyone bothered to look into all the GOOD H&M has done for various organizations such as UNICEF? Probably not. They've donated over $5 million to UNICEF alone in the past 5 years, what have all you WONDERFUL, philanthropic people done?
